In Their Own Story
On October 4th, 2013, Comet 279P/Tiamat fragments were set to strike Itomori, killing 500 residents including Mitsuha's mother Futaba. Taki and Mitsuha switched bodies intermittently until the connection broke. Realizing the timeline gap, Taki traveled to Hida with friends Okudera and Fujii, discovering Itomori was already ruins. He drank Mitsuha's kuchikamizake at Goshintai shrine to recall her life, then possessed her body on the festival morning. Enlisting friends Sayaka and Tessie, he destroyed the substation to hijack the emergency broadcast system for evacuation. At twilight, they met in person before nightfall erased their memories of each other's names.
